Saved By Grace- Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
What a wonderful God we have. When Adam and Eve committed the original sin plunging mankind into sin, God made the promise to provide salvation for earth’s fallen race. This salvation is realized in the person of Jesus Christ (the Son of God). Salvation is a gift of God. It cannot be earned, and it cannot be purchased.
God provides salvation by his grace through faith in the sinless life, crucifixion, burial and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Therefore, since no one can earn salvation through works, no one can boast. Paul wrote: But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (Galatians 6:14).
No one can boast about their salvation. We can however, boast in the cross of Christ. If you must boast, boast about Jesus and what He has done for you. To many in the world, the cross is an offense. But to the Christian, the cross represents the atonement secured for us by our Savior.
As we begin a new year, let us dedicate our lives to the Savior who died on the cross for us and rose again for our justification.
