Our God and Our Father- John 20:17

17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”

Jesus’ first post resurrection appearance was to Mary Magdalene. When she went to embrace Him, He said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” Jesus referred to the Father as “My Father and your Father, and My God and your God.”

In Ephesians 1:3 Paul wrote:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. God the Father is the God and Father of Jesus. However, Jesus told Mary that He is also her God and Father. If you are a Christian, God is your God and your heavenly Father as well.

As our God, He is to be worshiped as such. As our Father, He invites us into a relationship with Him. This relationship comes through Christ. We are to worship our God as God, yet at the same time we can have a Father/son, or Father/daughter relationship with our heavenly Father.
