Eternity in Man’s Heart- Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV

He has put eternity into man’s heart.,

The concept of eternity is perhaps the most difficult concept for the human mind to grasp. The difficulty comes in the fact that we had a beginning. We were born into this world at a particular time. God, on the other hand, has always existed. There was never a time when he was not. This is a difficult concept that we accept by faith.

Almost as difficult is the fact that we will continue to exist throughout eternity future. This knowledge comes to us because as King Solomon wrote: He has put eternity into man’s heart. Death is not the end of our existence; it is the end of our life on earth. The Bible tells us that eternity awaits all of us.

The question is not whether you will exist throughout eternity future. The question is where will you spend eternity. Jesus tells us that there is a heaven to be gained for those of us who trust Him. Jesus told Nicodemus that we must be born again if we are to see the Kingdom of God.

So, what does it mean to be born again? Again, Jesus told Nicodemus, and by extension, us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) The apostle Paul wrote, “…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10).

There is no denying eternity. Death comes to all and eternity awaits. Prepare for it now, if you have not already done so. Jesus is knocking at the door. Receive Him as your Lord and Savior and be born again today. If you have already been born again, your eternity is secure in Christ. You have His word on that.
