The Righteous Servant- Isaiah 53:11 ESV
11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.
Here in Isaiah chapter 53 the prophet is writing about the Messiah. We know this Messiah to be Jesus. God refers to the Messiah as his servant, and Mark 10:45 tells us that Jesus came not to serve, but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.
Hebrew 10:14 tells us that Jesus has made us perfect for all time by His sacrifice. And Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus endured the cross, despising its shame.
In these 3 verses, we see the fulfillment of this prophecy by Isaiah. Jesus endured the cross (the anguish of his soul), He is the Righteous Servant, and He has perfected for all time, those who are being sanctified (made many to be accounted righteous).
This righteousness imputed to man comes only through the sacrifice made by Christ on our behalf and our faith in Him to save us. Paul wrote in Romans 10:9-11: that salvation comes through confession, and faith. We must confess with our mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. You do that, and you will be saved. Paul also states that in doing so, we will not be ashamed. We have nothing to be ashamed of. Again, Paul wrote: For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Jesus fulfills every Old Testament prophecy concerning the Messiah. He is the Messiah (the Righteous Servant). If you have not done so yet, place your faith in Him today. He will receive you, if you receive Him.
