The Promised Redeemer- Isaiah 9:6
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
About 700 years before the birth of Christ, Isaiah wrote many prophecies concerning him. This prophecy tells us that he would come into this world through childbirth. In other words, he would be human. He also is the given Son.
As Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:16: 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Jesus, Son of God, would be born into the world as a baby.
This baby would grow to become a man. He would live a sinless life, thereby fulfilling the Law of Moses and would give his life for the redemption of mankind. He would sit on the throne of David and rule the world with justice and righteousness.
While we seek justice today, the only true justice can be found in Christ. As we celebrate Christmas, let us be thankful for the gift of Christ and His redemption that God has given to the world.
