Reasoning with God- Isaiah 1:18-19
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Is belief and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ reasonable? Some would say no. Some would say that believing in God is not reasonable. God says differently. Not only is belief and trust in Christ reasonable, it is essential for eternal life.
Through the prophet Isaiah, God tells us that he desires to have a relationship with us. He even offers to reason with us. This reasoning has to do with our sin problem. God says that though our sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
The references to snow and wool speak of the color white. White is the symbol for purity. Although we have impure thoughts and motives:
20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” (Mark 7:20-23), the blood of Christ can cleanse us from all impurity. The apostle John wrote: 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).
Placing your faith in Christ is not only reasonable, it is the most reasonable thing you can do. Listen to God. Come and reason with Him. He offers forgiveness of sins and salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Come to Him today.
